Naming Convention:
“Xin” means the heart. The point is close to the heart and is the place through which the qi of the heart infuses into the surface of the body. It is mainly indicated in heart disorders, hence the name Xinshu (Heart Point).
Location:
1.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the 5th thoracic vertebra.
Clinical Applications:
Irritability.
Palpitation.
Arrhythmia and angina pectoris (combine with Neiguan (PC6))).
Forgetfulness.
Insomnia.
Nocturnal emission.
Seminal emission (combine with Shenshu (BL23)).
Neurasthenia (combine with Fengchi (GB20), Baihui (DU20), Zusanli (ST36) and Sanyinjiao (SP6)).
