Naming Convention:
“Wei” means stomach. This point lies close to the stomach and is the place through which the qi of the stomach infuses into the surface of the body. It is mainly indicated in disorders of the stomach, hence the name Weishu (Stomach Point).
Location:
1.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the 12th thoracic vertebra.
Clinical Applications:
Epigastric pain.
Pain in the chest and the hypochondriac region
Abdominal pain.
Diarrhea.
Nausea and vomiting.
Borborygmus.
Weakness of the spleen and the stomach.
Acute or chronic gastritis, gastric ulcer and infantile indigestion (combine with Zhongwan (CV12), Pishu (BL20), Neiguan (PC6), Zusanli (ST36) and Sanyinjiao (SP6)).
Invigorate the Yang of the stomach.
Strengthen the function of the spleen and stomach.
Resolve dampness.
Remove stagnation.
