Naming Convention:
“Shen” means kidney. The point is very close to the kidney, and it is the place through which the qi of the kidney infuses into the body surface. It is commonly used to treat disorders of the kidney, hence the name Shenshu (Kidney Point).
Location:
1.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the 2nd lumbar vertebra.
Clinical Applications:
Lumbago.
Enuresis.
Profuse leukorrhea.
Tinnitus.
Deafness.
Edema.
Diabetes (combine with Pishu (BL20), Guanyuanshu (BL26), Zusanli (ST36) and Sanyinjiao (SP6)).
Numbness of the lower limbs, paralysis and sciatica (combine with Huantiao (GB30), Fengshi (GB31), Baliao (BL31-34), Weizhong (BL40), Zusanli (ST36) and Xuanzhong (GB39)).
Diseases related to the urinary and reproductive systems, such as rhinitis, irregular menstruation, seminal emission, impotence, prospermia and dysmenorrhea (combine with Ganshu (BL18), Zhongji (CV3), Pangguangshu (BL28) and Sanyinjiao (SP6)).
Headache with insomnia, forgetfulncss and neurasthenia (combine with Ganshu (BL18), Xinshu (BL15), Fengchi (GB20) and Shenmen (HT7)).
Urolithiasis.
Invigorate the kidney function in case of rhinitis.
Increase the secretion of the phenol red (PSP).
Decrease or eliminate entirely both white and red blood cells in the urine.
Lower blood pressure.
Alleviate edema.
Tonify kidney Yin.
