Naming Convention:
“Dachang” means the large intestine. The point is associated with the large intestine and it is the place where the qi of the large intestine infuses into the body surface. It is mainly indicated in diseases of the large intestine, hence the name Dachangshu (Large Intestine Point).
Location:
1.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the 4th lumbar vertebra.
Clinical Applications:
Lumbago.
Acute lumbar sprain (combine with Renzhong (CV26)).
Lumbosacral pain (combine with Kunlun (BL60)).
Sciatica (combine with Huntiao (GB30)).
Abdominal pain and borborygmus (combine with Zusanli (ST36) and Shangjuxu (ST37)).
Diarrhea.
Regulate the function of the stomach and intestines.
Eliminate heat.
Promote bowel movement.
Strengthen the lower back and knees.
