“Ge” refers to the diaphragm. “Guan” means pass. The point is lateral to Geshu (BLI7), the diaphragm point, and is mainly indicated in hiccup, regurgitation, nausea, vomiting and disorders associated with the diaphragm. Hence the name Geguan (Diaphragm Pass).
