Naming Convention:
“Hun” is the soul and “Men” means a gate. The point is at the level of Ganshu (BL18), the liver point. The liver houses the soul and the point is mainly indicated in liver disorders, such as hypochondriac pain, mental diseases, pain in the back, vomiting, etc. Hence the name Hunmen (Soul Gate).

Three cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the 9th thoracic vertebra.
Clinical Applications:
Soothe the liver.
Remove stagnation of liver qi.
Pacify the stomach.
