BL58 Feiyang

English Name:

Flying-up

Naming Convention:

“Fei”, meaning flying, refers to going fast here. “Yang” here means to fly upward. This point is the Luo-connecting point of the meridian. The qi of the Urinary Bladder Meridian can pass quickly from this point to the Kidney Meridian of Foot-Shaoyin. For weakness of the lower extremities, this point can be stimulated; after which the patient can walk with a spring in his step. Hence the name Feiyang (Flying-up).

Location:

One cun inferior and lateral to Chengshan (BL57), on the lateral border to the musculus gastrocnemius.

Clinical Applications:

  • Headache.
  • Blurring of vision.
  • Weakness and pain of the leg as well as lower back pain.
